Nevada NASA Space Grant Consortium

The Nevada NASA Space Grant Consortium was established in 1991 with a grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA and is comprised of Nevada's eight state institutions of higher learning.

 

We support the national agenda to develop a strong math, science, engineering and technology education base through the funding of research and higher education programs, and by supporting students through scholarships, fellowships and internships, and by partnering with industry and local government.

 

Our academic member institutions consist of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), Nevada State College (NSC) in Henderson, Western Nevada College (WNC) in Carson City, Great Basin College (GBC) in Elko, Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) in Reno, the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) in Las Vegas, and the Desert Research Institute (DRI) with locations in Las Vegas and Reno.

 

Mission:

The overall goal of the Nevada NASA Space Grant Consrotium is to create and expand oppotunities for Nevada students and faculty to be active and valued participants in our nation's NASA aeronautics and space programs.


National NASA Space Grant College and Fellowship Program

A national network that promotes STEM education through cooperative and multidisciplinary programs, while recruiting and traing the workforce.

 

Goal:

Contribute to the nation's science enterprise by funding Education, Research and Public service projects through a network of university-based Space Grant consortia.

 

Objectives:

  1. Establish and maintain a national network of universities.
  2. Encourage cooperative programs among universities, aerospace industry, and federal, state and local governments.
  3. Encourage interdisciplinary education, research adn public program related to aerospace.
  4. Recruit and train U.S. citizens, especially women, underrepresented minorities and person with disabilities.
  5. Promote a strong science, mathematics and technology education base from elementary though secondary levels.
